Norris L. Beren, CPCM, is the author of the recently
published book on Family Emergency Disaster Planning
entitled “When Disaster Strikes Home”
101+ ways to protect your family from unthinkable emergencies.
He has more than 30 years experience in identifying,
reducing and managing risk. He is a recognized authority,
consultant, speaker, trainer and author on risk reduction
for national audiences. He has a B.A. in Sociology from
the University of Illinois and attended John Marshall
Law School in Chicago. For 30 years, Mr. Beren has worked
with over 1000 companies managing insurance, risk and
safety management programs. He earned the Certified
Professional Consultant to Management (CPCM) designation
from the National Bureau of Certified Consultants.
He is a Director of the Emergency Preparedness Educational
InstituteSM, in Mt Prospect, Illinois.
The Institute, a not-for-profit corporation has created
National Emergency Preparedness Week to be celebrated
September 10–16, 2006, countrywide. The purpose
of the recognition is to call attention to Americans
to "get prepared and be ready for the unthinkable",
by providing education and awareness training to Help
People Help Themselves in times of need.
